Summer, Fall, Winter, and Jelly Beans

🎢It’s the most wonderful time of the year. 🎢

Springtime. End of winter, renewal, new growth, thunderstorms, baby animals, and mild temperatures.

There are so many things about this season that can be celebrated, but for me personally, the NUMBER 1 thing that I look forward to this time of year is…….JELLY BEANS!!!!

Hello, my name is Kala and I love jelly beans. It started when I was a kid, but when they started making the specialty candy beans, I lost all self control. Every year, I say that I will get a stock pile to last me all year and it lasts me a month, MAYBE….

Sometimes I will make a mixture of different kinds of jelly beans to take to work with me. My oldest called it my jelly bean trail mix. I was out on delivery with a co-worker, and as difficult as it was I asked if he would like some. He said, why yes, I would. I then whipped out a full quart baggie of a smorgasbord of colorful beans. He politely tried to hide his surprise, but I caught it.

A friend from church told me she was going to set up an intervention, but I was just afraid they would eat all my jelly beans there.

Even my youngest seems to judge me. That look of hers just screams, Really, mom? (Disclaimer: She really enjoys my addiction now. )

If loving these beans is wrong, I don’t want to be right.

My favorite are NERDZ jelly beans. Last year, I was having a difficult time finding them. So I put out an APB on Facebook and had people literally around the world looking for jelly beans for me. My high school friend found some and sent them to me. Then a friend I knew in England sent me some, as well. Also a friend found some at a local store, so I had to add to my stockpile. What a great bunch of enablers, I have in my life. So my crisis was averted, WHEW!

Every once in a while you come across people who really get you. I have a few of those people in my life. One of these people really understands and sympathizes with my jelly bean addiction. We discuss the fact that we are going to build our stockpile and make it last till May or June. Then we laugh and laugh, because who are we kidding?

So ladies and gentlemen, if you can find a friend who will risk getting kicked out of a grocery store in order to get a picture for your blog to adequately portray your love and obsession with a particular candy, you know they are an absolute keeper. Because after all, jelly bean shopping is SERIOUS BUSINESS.

Yes, I am sitting in a cart full of jelly beans with a white rabbit. I may have been going down a rabbit hole or off on a bunny trail, but I was in heaven with all that yumminess!

(By the way, yes, I did buy most of those jelly beans in that cart and my lovely friend bought the rest. Also, I am fairly certain that someone was posting on social media today about a strange experience at the local Dillons where a couple of strange woman were posing for pictures with jelly beans. )

So friends I hope that I’ve inspired you to maybe head to your local grocery store, or Wal-Mart/ Target and pick up some of those beautiful little bursts of color and joy. But for now I’m off, maybe I’ll see you in the Easter candy aisle. Toodles….
